Oculus restructures to form separate groups for mobile & PC VR

Oculus announced today that it's changing up how it works and establishing two distinct internal groups, one focused on virtual reality tech for PC and the other on VR for mobile devices.

It's a small but notable step in the company's path to being a VR platform holder, one which can pursue multiple lines of research and development on different types of hardware in parallel.  Come from South African Online Casinos

This change brings with it a bit of internal shuffling that will see Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe stepping aside to lead the PC division, while current Oculus software chief Jon Thomason will move over to lead the mobile group.

"Thinking about where I’m most passionate, I’ve decided to lead the PC VR group—pushing the state of VR forward with Rift, research and computer vision," reads a company blog post bearing Iribe's byline. "With this new role, I can dive back into engineering and product development. That’s what gets me up every day, inspired to run to work."

It's yet unclear who will step up to take Iribe's place as head of Oculus proper; an Oculus representative tells Gamasutra that Iribe and Thomason will work together to find a new leader for Oculus, but that person will not be using the CEO title.
